Cyrille Regis MBE was born in 1958 in French Guiana, South America, and moved to England with his family in 1962. He enjoyed a 19 year professional football career playing for top-flight clubs such as WBA, Coventry and Aston Villa FC.
Cyrille and his wife Julia have supported WaterAid since for over 10 years. They got straight to work and went to Ethiopia to visit water projects where they saw WaterAid’s work first hand. Cyrille was awarded an MBE in 2008 for his services to football and the voluntary sector.
Together Cyrille and Julia Regis have been passionate supporters of WaterAid, and have shared the same vision of a world where everyone has access to clean water and decent toilets.
This page is in loving memory of Cyrille, and a tribute to all of the wonderful work he has done for this cause.
(Help reach 250,000 people around the world with clean water. Every £1 donated to WaterAid's Untapped appeal between 1 November 2017 and 31 January 2018 will be doubled by the UK Government, up to £5 million)
Cyrille (know of you through my wonderful colleague Melanie Bowen-Smith) and what a huge role model you were for millions and what an inspiration. You will be sadly missed but I hope your foundation and charity work will keep alive the goodness of your heart for many moons to come. We take cool, clear, safe drinking water for granted in the UK; but many don't have that luxury - so congrats to your wife and you for helping bring it to many more people. Rest in Peace Cyrille. Dawn
RIP Cyrille
Hope this charity will keep your memory alive-as well as helping people
